The founder
Why I built Orange AI
I’m Brad Ferris. I’m a Chartered Accountant who started his career at a Big Four firm, co-founded a national technology business, and completed an eight-figure exit to private equity. I’m also a former drum and bass DJ who promoted raves across Toronto before any of that happened. The through-line isn’t obvious, but it’s real: I’ve always moved between worlds.
In 2018 I co-founded a Brisbane-based managed IT and security services business. We grew it from two people to a national operation: built it, scaled it, governed it, and in 2025 we sold it. That taught me what it takes to build a company from scratch: the financial architecture, the operational discipline, the relentless commercial focus, and the human reality of leading a team through growth.
I went all-in on AI because I believe it’s the most significant force to hit business in a generation, and most businesses are getting it wrong. They’re buying technology without strategy. They’re hiring consultants who’ve never built a business. They’re implementing AI without understanding the commercial outcome it’s supposed to deliver.
I built Orange AI to fix that: to be the partner I wish I’d had when I was scaling my last business. Someone who understands both the technology and the business, who can sit in the boardroom and the build room, and who measures success the same way a founder does.
